default.ide - contains model ID#s and model properties

*.gxt - contains all in game text (good example of what pages should look like)

object.dat - contains object colision damage effects data

particle.cfg - contains particle systems configuration data

timecyc.dat - contains weather and enviorment settings (stars, sun, rain etc.)

water.dat - contains water level settings

Sfx Data Files

sfx.sdt - contains audio structure data where sounds begin and end, loop information

sfx.raw - contains actual sfx data

Animation Data Files

ped.ipf - contains animation data for the player and other peds

cuts.img - archive of cutscene animation data

Map Data Files

*.col - contains object colision data

*.ide - contains object types, paths and 2dfx for the area it covers

*.ipl - contains object placment data for the area it covers

gta3.zon - contains zone data

Model\Texture Files

*.dff - 3d model file format

*.txd - texture dictionary containing one or more textures

*.img - archive file containing .dff and .txd files

*.dir - contains info for the file entries of an *.img file of the same name

Vehicle Data Files

handling.cfg - contains car stats (speed, braking, dimensions...)

carcols.dat - contains all info about car colors

Weapon Data Files

weapon.dat - contains weapon stats (Fire type, rate, reload...)

fistfite.dat - contains fistfight moves and each moves data

Ped Data Files

ped.dat - contains all ped types (fears and triggers)

pedgrp.dat - contains the list of ped groups for each zone

pedstats.dat - contains each peds statistics
